martinis anyone?

TGIF! The storms in California this week have left me feeling a bit blue and longing for spring sunshine and warmth. Until then, I’ve decided to bring a bit of spring into my kitchen. I’m excited to whip up a pansy floral martini to kick off the weekend. Doesn’t it sound delightful? It’s made with pansy simple syrup, vodka, and fresh lemon juice. In our house, martinis are straightforward, but this new floral addition is worth the extra effort. I can’t wait to mix it up and savor every sip. Cheers to the weekend!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ ounces vodka
  • 1 tbsp pansy simple syrup
  • ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
  • pansy flower for garnish

Pansy Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup pansy flower petals
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Rip the floral petals off of the stem and the base of the flower. You want just the petals. Add the petals and the sugar into the bowl of food processor and pulse until combined.
  • Next, heat up the sugar/petal mixture with a cup of water over medium high heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Then, let’s strain with fine mesh strainer and let cool to room temperature.
  • Store in a lidded bottle in the fridge. And store in the fridge.

Pansy Martini

  • Pour vodka, simple syrup, and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and stir ALOT. Stir till you can’t anymore. We are stir people in this house, but you can totally shake as well. If you shake- Shake for 10-15 seconds or its nice and cold your hands can’t handle it anymore.
  • Strain into chilled coupe glass and garnish with a pansy flower. Cheers!
