Spring is coming to a close soon, you can feel it in the air… Summer is about ready to take over!! Remember that Spring list we have been dutifully checking off? Well the next two days we check off our last two items! Today is visiting the farmer’s market. When I think of Spring I think of growth and all the delicious fruits and veggies that are available to eat. Spending mornings at the farmer’s market is a great way to kick off your week and stock your fridge full of fresh foods. I especially love taking my little guys with me, even if they do pick up all the free samples…

There are tons of farmer’s markets in our area, but when you live by the beach they have them right there! Our local farmer’s market is at the Newport Beach pier, it’s small but has just what we need. Court really loves to go and check out all of the goods. We pick out a few things to bring home that day, usually lots of fruits tend to make their way into our bags. He also loves to see the flowers, and like I said, eat the free samples!
When we get home we take out all of our goodies (whatever makes it home that is) and plan for the week. We make dinner that night with the fresh veggies and snack on anything else we brought home. It’s so fun to take this trip out with my boys, I love that it’s interactive for them and that they also get to learn while we go out. These little bonding moments may seem trivial but to me they are so important and fun.
While we are there we talk about the different vegetables and fruit we see. We’ll talk about colors and talk to the vendors. It’s nice to get out of the house and do something like this. Court loves being interactive with everyone and I love that he’s learning and being social.
When we were leaving the farmer’s market this past weekend Court sat to eat some of his strawberries. A nice man sat next to him and he offered him some berries. It was so sweet and made me so proud of this kind and loving boy I am raising. These moments make my heart melt and let me know I am doing a good job, well I hope!
These weekly activities and outings are some of my favorite parts of being a mom. I love to get out and explore with my little ones, its something my parents instilled in me and I’m happy to continue the tradition. I’m always looking for other fun ways to get outside and be active with them… What are some of your favorite family outings?
